This was my first bed and breakfast experience and I enjoyed every minute of it! Me and my significant other reserved a room here because we were spending a 1 1/2 days in Wisconsin Dells. I had previously been to Wisconsin Dells growing up so I wanted a new experience as an adult. If your looking for a rustic country experience this is the place to go. Previous reviewers on yelp said this place was great so I thought I would give it a try. Plus, we noted in comparison with other Bed & Breakfast's that Thunder Valley included breakfast in the price of the room which was an added bonus. Thunder Valley Bed & Breakfast is a family owned B&B that is also on a dairy farm. This also made the experience even more worth while. I always try to look for new and outside of the box things to do so this enticed me even more. All the staff there were very friendly and personable. Our last morning there we got to have breakfast in the dairy barn which was pretty awsome! They gave us a tour of the farm after breakfast. By the way breakfast was very delicious nothing fancy but the usual breakfast foods which was fine for us. Me and my now fiance will definitely be coming back here for another B&B experience.

We somehow came across this B&B online -- and boy, are we ever glad we did! As my fellow Yelper stated, "so close and yet so far" from the tourist trap that is now (sadly) is the Wisconsin Dells. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in the comfortable old "Farmhus" -- in the "Wicker Room" and the adjoining "Grandma Grace's" rooms. The inn is about 1.5 miles off the main road in the Dells and with it's Scandanavian theme feels a world away. Anita is full of energy and exuberance and is very friendly and hospitable -- she makes everyone feel right at home -- and serves up a delicious, extremely filling breakfast. On Sunday mornings the grounds become busy -- not just with breakfast open to the public but with a small Farmer's Market right onsite -- local vendors selling fruits, vegetables, herbs and other hand-made items. If you are looking for an affordable, quiet, family-friendly place to stay in the Dells, then look no further.

I absolutely love it here! It's nice to stay here because it is quiet and comfortable like a home away from home. I have stayed in many of the hotels in the dells and this place is the best because you get to have a great breakfast and meet new people. Anita who runs the place is one of the coolest ladies I have ever met. She makes this place the gem that it is. She makes sure that you start the day with Norwegian exercises. When we stayed they had a bonfire at night. I love how each room has a VHS player and there is a farmhouse with tons of old great movies to watch. She leaves a map with her favorite things to do in the dells area in every room which is helpful. We stayed in the Norskevalley room and we loved the antiques and fresh cut flowers in the room when we arrived. I have stayed in the wildflower room and the wicker room in the past and they were great rooms too.

Norwegian theme. Very nice people. Delicious pancakes. Beyond that, the story falls apart and, unfortunately, I just can't recommend this place. Meals are served in a converted barn in ancient tables and chairs. The food was almost all served buffet style in crock pots. The pianist/singer felt like I was watching Lawrence Welk. As charming as it could potentially be, it just didn't work for us

So close yet so far from Wisconsin Dells... About three minutes from the downtown section of Wisconsin Dells is a wonderful little Norwegian-themed bed and breakfast. It's small; there are only 11 rooms in the entire B&B (seven in a master hut, three in a smaller ranch house and one cozy wee hus [house]). Beyond rooms, there is a kitchen that customarily has coffee and a homemade afternoon snack each day. There is a wall of VCR tapes and shelves of board games to bring up to your room. The style within each room has its own theme, but is an excellent hybrid of semi-modern convenience and the folksy charm of the past. The price range is perfect for the modest budget -- $69-$139. Each room includes a small TV/VCR combo, microwave and fridge, books/mags (range from vacation guides to recent novels to stories that reflect their Scandinavian heritage). Rooms are painted with art and style that celebrates the old country. The service is family managed and exceptionally friendly. During the week, Anita (owner) visits with the guests and serves up some wonderful breakfast, hokey expressions and piano-based games. You may see her daughters (both married, sorry guys), serve tables or give you the introductory tour (they have day jobs). Thunder Valley Inn's farm is devoted to rehabbed goats, peacocks, sheep, geese, rabbit and cats/kittens; this in itself, makes it an experience for the lil' ones. If your child is out there early enough he/she may be able to help out feeding the rabbit or milking the goat. Other family-related amenities include evening pit fires, lawn games and other little items that add to the joy of your stay. However, there is one indispensable feature and that is the farm-raised / homemade breakfast. My wife and child are fussy eaters, but finish breakfast satisfied every time. During the week, Thunder Valley serves up eggs, potatoes, sausage, ham, bread, pancakes, yogurt, granola, coffee, juices, milk and a special treat. Anita will make sure everyone is barely able to walk before she leaves you alone [no, she is not feeding you for the kill, that's too obvious of a 'joke']. Saturdays and Sundays have breakfasts open to the public. I would opt for their Sunday buffet; it includes the same items listed plus goat cheese, flatbread, fruit, bacon and herring. Eat up and enjoy. Eight years ago, I came to eat breakfast once while staying at a brand new cookie cutter hotel in Wisconsin Dells. After eating the breakfast and touring the grounds, I realized that I would never look for another place to stay. Years and numerous stays since have validated that stance. If you are taking a trip with your family or your other, this is the perfect friendly place to relax after combat with other Dells tourists.
